How Can Hypnobirthing Prevent Birth Trauma?

Giving birth is a life-changing event. For some women it can be really traumatic. Birth trauma varies for each person and it's important to recognise that only individuals themselves can define their own birth trauma. Many women who feel traumatised after birth often report a sense of loss of control, with decisions made on their behalf. Hypnobirthing helps women to have a more positive and empowering birth experience. Hypnobirthing emphasises relaxation and mindfulness and aims to reduce the likelihood of trauma during birth. The philosophy behind Hypnobirthing is that a calm and relaxed mind leads to a more comfortable and positive birth experience. By addressing fears and anxieties, Hypnobirthing seeks to change the way women perceive birth.

Why Aren't We Taught Enough About Birth in School?

"OMG! You’re pregnant, you must be terrified to give birth" As soon as you announce you are expecting a baby people suddenly relish in sharing the horror stories they have heard about birth. Whilst we do feel strongly that women who have had negative birth experiences deserve to be listened to, it should not be a pregnant woman listening. Some people will say ‘she deserves to know the truth’ we can guarantee anybody who would say this has not done KGHypnobirthing and therefore their opinion is invalid. We feel strongly that logical, evidence based factual information about birth should be taught in the secondary school curriculum, perhaps in the place of Pythagoras Theorem. We are certain it will come in handier later in life. Considering a good chunk of the population will go through birth and the other half will be birth partners. Read more...

Wedding Day vs Birth Day: Why Do We Not Give Birth the Same Level of Planning as Our Wedding Day?

A lot of women will say that the day their baby was born and their wedding day are the two most important days of their lives. The first is often left unplanned for and ‘left to the experts’. Whilst the other is usually planned down to every detail often with a pricey wedding planner. You could think of the medical caregivers you will meet in the maternity system as the experts in birth, just as a wedding planner is an expert in weddings. They have years of experience and have seen thousands of births/weddings. However, most people would not leave it to the wedding planner to pick their dress, the venue or the colour of the flowers simply because they are an ‘expert’. Helping Exceptant Mothers Embrace Birth with Confidence

Hi, I'm Charlotte, founder of Mindful Maternity. My goal is to make sure every mother feels seen, understood and heard during her pregnancy journey. I believe every birth story matters. Through a range of KGHypnobirthing courses, both in-person for those in Hampshire and online via Zoom, I offer personalised guidance to help mothers feel confident and prepared for a mindful and positive birth experience.

My passion for Hypnobirthing began during my first pregnancy with my daughter, Amelie. I became completely obsessed with it and then went on to have a wonderful birth experience because of it. I felt a burning desire to help other women achieve more mindful birth experiences, knowing that preventing even one traumatic birth was worth it. With this deep passion, I completed my KGHypnobirthing teacher training, accredited by The Royal College of Midwives, and now I’m able to help countless women every day through bespoke, guided KGHypnobirthing teaching.

My Birth Story

During my first pregnancy with my daughter, Amelie, I found myself diving deep into the world of Hypnobirthing. It quickly became an obsession, something I couldn't stop talking about. I would share what I learned with anyone who would listen - friends, family, even strangers - because I truly believed it was the key to my calm, empowered birth. I was fascinated by the idea that my body was designed for this, and Hypnobirthing gave me the tools to connect with that strength.

When the day finally came to meet Amelie, everything I had learned clicked into place. I felt calm, focused, and in control. Each breath, each technique, brought me closer to her. It wasn’t just about the physical experience; it was about the emotional journey of trusting my body. The joy and peace I felt when she was placed in my arms is indescribable. The whole experience was so beautiful, so natural, that I knew then and there that I wanted every woman to feel the same sense of empowerment I did. Hypnobirthing didn’t just change how I gave birth - it changed how I viewed my own strength as a mother.

Embracing motherhood has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life, and now as a KGHypnobirthing teacher, I am dedicated to sharing that journey with other expectant mothers. After experiencing the beauty and empowerment of my own birth, I’ve come to understand the incredible capabilities of a woman’s body to carry and bring forth life. It’s a journey that can be both inspiring and daunting, but I believe that with the right support and knowledge, every woman can feel confident and prepared as she steps into this new chapter of her life. My goal now is for every mother to walk into the birth experience feeling informed, supported, and ready to trust in her body’s remarkable ability to give birth.

When I got to the hospital, my midwife didn’t expect that baby would arrive as quickly as he did, she was so shocked! I had Charlotte’s voice in my head during labour & it really helped! I got the water birth I wanted. So amazing being able to pick him up out of the water, I felt like super woman.

Sinead

I don’t know what I would do without Charlotte’s support throughout my pregnancy, I feel so confident and excited for birth when I’m sure I would have felt completely different without her.

Summer

Charlotte has been incredible throughout my entire pregnancy journey, I highly recommend to anyone looking to learn more about what to expect during birth and to be able to make informed decisions about their care.
