Welcome to Mindful Maternity

You've had the initial excitement of finding out you're expecting a baby. Then one day, it hits you...

"I actually have to get this baby out of me somehow!"

For many women, birth is something we know surprisingly little about. Most of what we've learned has come from dramatic TV or films, horror stories from friends & family or social media, leaving many of us feeling anxious long before labour even begins. That was me too.

When I first heard of Hypnobirthing, I couldn't imagine how a 'few breathing techniques' could possibly make a difference to what I believed to be true about birth.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

It is an evidence-based approach that combines birth education, psychology and practical techniques to help you understand your body, reduce fear and build confidence approaching labour.

When we understand what's happening during birth and replace fear with knowledge, we often feel calmer, more in control and better equipped to make decisions that are right for us and our baby.

This course isn't about promising the "perfect" birth or encouraging one type of birth over another. Whether your birth is spontaneous, induced, assisted or a planned caesarean, my goal is to help you feel informed, prepared and empowered every step of the way.

How Can Hypnobirthing Prevent Birth Trauma?

Giving birth is a life-changing event. For some women it can be really traumatic. Birth trauma varies for each person and it's important to recognise that only individuals themselves can define their own birth trauma. Many women who feel traumatised after birth often report a sense of loss of control, with decisions made on their behalf. Hypnobirthing helps women to have a more positive and empowering birth experience. Hypnobirthing emphasises relaxation and mindfulness and aims to reduce the likelihood of trauma during birth. The philosophy behind Hypnobirthing is that a calm and relaxed mind leads to a more comfortable and positive birth experience. By addressing fears and anxieties, Hypnobirthing seeks to change the way women perceive birth.

Wedding Day vs Birth Day: Why Do We Not Give Birth the Same Level of Planning as Our Wedding Day?

A lot of women will say that the day their baby was born and their wedding day are the two most important days of their lives. The first is often left unplanned for and ‘left to the experts’. Whilst the other is usually planned down to every detail often with a pricey wedding planner. You could think of the medical caregivers you will meet in the maternity system as the experts in birth, just as a wedding planner is an expert in weddings. They have years of experience and have seen thousands of births/weddings. However, most people would not leave it to the wedding planner to pick their dress, the venue or the colour of the flowers simply because they are an ‘expert’. Helping Expectant Mothers Embrace Birth with Confidence

Hi, I'm Charli, the founder of Mindful Maternity. I'm also mum to my daughter, Amelie. It was during my pregnancy with her that I first discovered Hypnobirthing. As I learned about how our mind, body and hormones work during labour I remember thinking 'How isn't this common knowledge?! Every woman deserves to know this!'

I put into practice everything I had learned from Hypnobirthing and had an incredible birth because of it. My own experience inspired me to train as a Hypnobirthing teacher so I could help other women approach birth feeling well equipped with knowledge & tools, less fearful and more confident.

After Amelie was born I completed my KGHypnobirthing teacher training, accredited by The Royal College of Midwives.

My aim isn't to tell you there's one right way to give birth. It's to help you understand your options, trust your body, and feel empowered to make the decisions that are right for you and your baby.

Through a range of KGHypnobirthing courses, both in-person for those in Hampshire and online via Zoom, I offer personalised guidance to help mothers feel confident and prepared for a mindful and positive birth experience.

My birth literally was the best experience of my life!! My midwife said it was her favourite birth for a long time. It couldn't have been more perfect, thanks to you Charli!!!

Leah

I've honestly come away so motivated and fascinated! I literally felt so at ease and calm. Charli has the perfect voice for it!

Patsy

When I got to the hospital, my midwife didn’t expect that my baby would arrive as quickly as he did, she was so shocked! I had Charli's voice in my head during labour & it really helped! I got the water birth I wanted. So amazing being able to pick him up out of the water, I felt like super woman.

Sinead

I don’t know what I would do without Charli’s support throughout my pregnancy, I feel so confident and excited for birth when I’m sure I would have felt completely different without her.

Summer

Charli has been incredible throughout my entire pregnancy journey, I highly recommend to anyone looking to learn more about what to expect during birth and to be able to make informed decisions about their care.
